Privacy Policy

Easy Language Privacy Policy

Easy Language (“we” or “our”) is a UK-registered language-learning service. This Privacy Policy explains how we will collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our website or mobile app.

This policy describes how data will be handled upon launch. We are committed to following UK/EU privacy laws (such as the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018) and to keeping your information secure.

For any privacy questions or concerns, please contact us at easylanguage2025@gmail.com.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to run our service. When you create an account, we require your name and email address. You may also use social logins (Google, Facebook, etc.), in which case we receive your name and email from that provider. We do not collect any other contact details. When you participate in the course, you submit written exercises, quiz answers, and voice recordings. These learning materials are stored securely on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud servers. We do not store payment card details; payments are handled through in-app purchases via the Apple/Google store. We collect only minimal technical information: for example, your device type to help us improve the app. We do not use cookies, analytics tools, or any tracking technologies on our site or app, so there is no need for a cookie banner or cookie settings. We do not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, as we do not engage in tracking.

We welcome learners of all ages. Although Easy Language is not specifically designed for children, minors may use the app. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under age 13 without parental consent. If you are under 13 (or under the applicable age in your country), please get permission from a parent or guardian before registering. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided us personal data without consent, we will delete it.

What is “personal data”? Under GDPR, personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable person, such as names and email addresses. Your name, email, device type, and any submitted exercise content or recordings are considered personal data.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to provide and improve Easy Language:

  • Account Management: We use your name and email to verify you are a real user, create and manage your account, and to send you important notices (e.g. class schedules, registration confirmations).
  • Educational Services: We use the materials you submit (exercises, quizzes, voice recordings) to deliver your lessons, grade assignments, and issue course certificates. For example, your voice recordings are used only to assess your pronunciation or answer quizzes; we do not use voice data to identify you or for any biometric profiling.
  • Course Improvement: We may use aggregated, non-identifiable information (for example, performance on quizzes) to improve our courses and app features.
  • Security: We may use device information (like device type) and two-step verification to help secure your account and prevent fraud.

We will never use your personal data for marketing or advertising. We do not conduct any analytics or profiling for advertising purposes. We do not sell or rent your information. We do not use any AI, profiling, or automated decision-making tools on your data – all educational decisions (like grading or progress evaluation) are made by humans.

Cookies and Tracking

Easy Language does not use cookies, web beacons, or similar tracking technologies. We do not collect analytics about your browsing behavior. Since we have no tracking, you will not see cookie pop-ups or banners. We also do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” signals, but note that no tracking is taking place in the first place.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We keep your data private. We do not share your personal information with any third parties for marketing or advertising. We do not have any affiliate marketing or partners who receive user data. The only service provider we use is Amazon Web Services (AWS), which securely hosts our user data and content. AWS acts as our data processor and provides strong security measures. For example, AWS states that it implements “rigorous technical and organizational measures to protect [customer] data” – ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability. AWS also holds industry-standard certifications (ISO 27001, 27017, 27018) that focus on protecting cloud customer data. In summary, AWS’s compliance and safeguards help keep your data secure.

We will not sell, rent, or trade your information. Except for AWS as described, we do not disclose your personal data to any other companies or individuals. We do not have a plan to share data for legal or business transfers. In an extreme case, if we were legally required to provide information (for example, to comply with a valid subpoena or to protect someone’s safety), we would do so only as necessary, but otherwise your data remains private.

International Data Transfers

Our app is available worldwide, so your data may be stored or transferred internationally. Easy Language complies with UK GDPR for such transfers. When personal data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we rely on EU-approved Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or other recognized mechanisms to ensure protection. AWS automatically includes the SCCs in its terms, so any data transferred via AWS is covered by the same level of protection as in the EEA. In practice, this means your personal information remains safeguarded by UK/EU-level privacy rules even if stored or backed up outside Europe.

Data Security

We take security seriously. We have implemented reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. For example, we support two-step verification (two-factor authentication) for your account login. All data sent to and from our servers is encrypted in transit using secure protocols (HTTPS/TLS). Your submitted exercises and recordings are encrypted at rest on AWS. As noted, AWS’s cloud infrastructure uses industry-standard security controls: for instance, AWS has achieved ISO 27001/27017/27018 certifications to protect customer data. While no system is 100% secure, we strive to use best practices (strong encryption, regular audits, and strict access controls) to keep your information safe.

Your Rights and Choices

Under UK/EU data protection laws, you have rights over your personal data:

  • Access and Correction: You can view and update the profile information you provided (name, email, etc.) by logging into your account. You may correct any errors or change your details at any time.
  • Account Deletion: You may request that we delete your account and any personal data we hold. To do so, please contact us at easylanguage2025@gmail.com. We will delete your data upon request unless we need to keep some information for legal reasons.
  • Data Portability: UK GDPR includes a right to get your personal data in a machine-readable format. Currently, Easy Language does not offer an automatic “export my data” feature. If you need a copy of your data, contact us and we will attempt to provide it in a common format where feasible.
  • Withdrawal of Consent: If we ever rely on your consent for a particular feature (e.g. optional email notifications), you can withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us.
  • Objection: You have the right to object to any processing that is not necessary for providing the service. In practice, we do not use your data for any secondary purposes (like marketing), so this right is not currently applicable.
  • No Cookies to Opt Out: We do not use cookies or trackers, so there is no cookie settings or opt-out needed.
  • No Marketing Emails (Unless You Opt In): We will never send you promotional emails unless you explicitly agree. If we ever do (for example, optional newsletters), you can unsubscribe at any time using the link provided.

We do not track you or create a profile for advertising, and we do not use automated decision-making. Specifically, we do not use any AI or profiling that would make decisions about you without human involvement.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority if you believe your rights have been violated. In the UK, you may contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Our privacy policy includes your information rights and how to complain. We encourage you to contact us first if you have any concern; we will do our best to address it.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as you have an account with us and as needed to provide our services. Currently, we do not have a fixed deletion schedule, so data may be stored indefinitely unless you request deletion. When data is deleted, we remove it from our active systems and securely delete backups in accordance with AWS procedures.

Children’s Privacy

Easy Language is a general service, not directed specifically at children. Nevertheless, we take extra care with minors’ data. If we learn that someone under 13 (or under the relevant age of consent in their country) has provided personal information without parental consent, we will promptly delete that information. Parents or guardians can contact us to review or delete their child’s data.

Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new policy in the app or on our website and notify you of material changes through the app. Please check the “Last Updated” date at the top of this notice to see when it was last revised. If we make significant changes, we may also notify you by email.
